Do we want this for local media as well?

I would say yes, maybe 365 days? We should probably discuss the time frame and then somehow mention it in our privacy policy.
Or maybe we only want to delete local media when a user gets deleted?

For remote media I would propose 14 days.

Deleting local media seems to cause some problems with sticker packs, so they have some admin API to protect them: https://element-hq.github.io/synapse/latest/admin_api/media_admin_api.html#protecting-media-from-being-quarantined

Not sure if this has to do with im.ponies.image_pack or the m.widget way of doing stickers.

Sounds good to me 👍
